Business intelligence (BI)
A term, referring to various technologies and applications that are used in order to gather, provide access to, and analyze information and data about company’s operations. The ultimate goal of BI technologies is to provide a company with as accurate as possible knowledge of factors that influence their business, e.g. production, sales metrics, internal operations, thus helping the company’s executives make better business decisions. Business Intelligence is often confused with an absolutely different management concept of competitive intelligence.
